Thank you. Not tipping for bad service is one thing. But to not tip just because you don’t think you should have to? That’s tantamount to theft, and makes you an asshole.
also fuck everyone who wants to pull the “tip credit” line because without fail the people who bring it up are people who have never worked in food service. i dont get this magical tip credit even though there’s some vague mention of it on my paycheck. the only option available to us on the clock-in pad is to enter our tips that EXCEED the tip credit, which has rarely if ever happened between working night shift and assholes who stiff me. i told my manager one night that i’d only made $7 in tips for 10 hours worked, and he just said ‘that sucks’ and turned away. i doubt my restaurant is very different from others, and i’m lucky enough to be able to KEEP all my tips—this is not the case at every restaurant. either tip when you go out to eat or stay the fuck at home.
